Not-So-Stupid Mouse Tricks

By clicking on a web page with the right mouse button (or by holding down the button on a Macintosh computer), a menu instantly appears from which some of the standard toolbar functions can be chosen. Accessing functions from a pop-up window is often more convenient than using the toolbar. Some of these "duplicated" functions are:

  • Back
  • Forward
  • Reload
  • Stop
  • Add Bookmark
  • When viewing a web page with frames, there is also a function available from this menu that is unavailable from the toolbar. This is the "Open Frame in New Window" function.

When linking to a new web site from a web page containing frames, you may want to see the URL in the location window or you may want to view the new page without a frame "getting in the way." "Open Frame in New Window" launches a new browser window containing the new web page.
